Totex offers Hydroseeding. Hydroseeding is a simple process.

Water, seed, fertilizer and protective mulch are mixed in a tank and sprayed onto a prepared lawn by high-presure injection. This technology provides planting grass by reaching various surfaces.

This method ensures the distribution of seeds and their germination. Once sprayed, the protective mulch provide the seeds with a water while protecting it from sunlight, wind, and erosion. As the grass seeds begin to germinate, the fiber mulch decompose slowly adding nutrients to the soil.

SEED

Seed used in a hydroseeder does not need to be anything special. Nearly any seed can be used and at the same application rate as other seeding methods. These can include grass or lawn seeds, wildflowers, pasture seed, seed for athletic fields or seeds for erosion control.

FERTILIZER

Fertilizer is usually used in the mix. A high phosphorus fertilizer that stimulate root growth is the most commonly used.

MULCH

Hydroseeding mulch is what gives it the green color. It does more than just make it pretty, it helps protect the seed, and gives moisture. It may be made from a paper or wood product or a mix. If any accidentally gets on your walkways, driveways or house, it will not stain and can be washed off, or will just disappear on it's own.

WATER

Water in the mix acts as a carrier, and get in contact with the seeds. When extra fast germination is desired, it is also possible to pre-germinate seed for even faster growth.

Advantages of Hydroseeding

  1. If you are planting a relatively large area, hydroseeding can be completed in a very short period of time.
  2. Hydroseeding can be very effective for hillsides and sloping lawns to help with erosion control and quick planting.
  3. Hydroseeding will typically cost less than planting with sod, but more than regular seeding.
  4. Results are often quick with high germination rates producing grass growth in about a week and mowing maintenance beginning around 3-4 weeks from the date of application. Fiber mulch accelerates the growing process by maintaining moisture around the seeds thereby increasing the rate of germination.
